Due to its background of epistemological representation, the main focus is set on Kantian philosophy. I argue that representational thinking leads to a problematic view on mathematics and its relation to reality. Finally, I outline an alternative approach to mathematical modelling according to Deleuze’s differential ontology.enFoucaultPhilosophy of mathematics educationMathematical modelling370 - Erziehung, Schul- und BildungswesenTowards an alternative approach to modelling in school mathematics01A - Beitrag in wissenschaftlicher Zeitschrift228-250
