Zwar ist sich heutzutage insbesondere die Pädagogik dieses Verhältnisses kaum mehr bewusst, nichtsdestotrotz ist es, gerade in der Schweiz, wo Vorstellungen von der Untrennbarkeit von Bürger und Soldat, die auch im Ausspruch «die Schweiz hat keine Armee, sie ist eine Armee» ihren Ausdruck findet, lange Zeit das nationale Selbstverständnis charakterisierten, von nicht zu unterschätzender Bedeutung.
