fhnw.leadIn order to move a step further in diversity awareness, Avenir group launched this bachelor thesis. The author analyzed what impact the diversity aspects age, gender and nationality may have in an assessment center.
fhnw.initialPositionAvenir group is already AKAC (Arbeitskreis Assessment Center) certified, which means it complies with several standards that account for a good practice. However, the diversity aspect could be covered more and therefore the author analyzed the already existing research to give Avenir an overview of this specific topic and hence the possibility to improve its service.
fhnw.procedureAs this paper should be understood as a literature and research review, the reproduced information is based, to approximately 90%, on specialist literature. In this context, books, professional journals, studies and research reports are representatives of this specialist literature. Expert interviews, which bring the literature in a practical context, then conclude the research.
fhnw.resultsThe literature review showed that not all participants have the same chances to succeed in an assessment center. Every single respected aspect (age, gender and nationality) faces in some point a disadvantage. Hence the need for adaptation and change is existing. This paper shows Avenir exactly this need for adaptation and change. Especially affected are the applied methods and the training provided to the assessors. The paper points out where exactly the assessors need to be more sensitive and interprete situations with caution. The author finally gives Avenir a few recommendations on how the assessors could be trained and which methods have to be applied with caution and a certain knowledge about the participant.
