fhnw.leadRanking the potential export markets for Bimbosan's infant formula. The country analysis considered global, macro- and microeconomic aspects, which were compared and evaluated in terms of different aspects.
fhnw.initialPositionBimbosan AG is a well-established brand for baby nutrition within Switzerland and seeks opportunities to enhance its export business. Therefore, the purpose of this paper was to establish a ranking for potential export markets for Bimbosan's high-quality food products. The significance of this research lies in the comparison of potential infant formula export markets also in relation to the benchmark of Switzerland. The trading countries were chosen carefully in terms of macro and micro-economic perspectives.
fhnw.procedureIn a first step, all countries of the world were analysed in terms of GDP, GDP growth and trade barriers. On the basis of the country ranking in the first selection process, the client was able to define five countries namely Denmark, Poland, Saudi Arabia, South Korea and Sweden. With these five countries, the project team conducted the second selection process, where macroeconomic factors were analysed. The third selection process comprised the analysis of competitors within the market (micro analysis). Finally, the potential export countries were ranked according to an evaluation model.
fhnw.resultsThe study has used different approaches and perspectives to provide reliable findings on current trends in the infant formula market of the aforementioned countries. The study's quantitative and qualitative standpoints will help Bimbosan AG to gain an overview about potential export markets on both a macro and micro-economic level and may be used as a guidance for future strategic decision making processes in the export business. The research relies wholly on secondary data from credible sources, which were eventually analysed through statistical evaluation techniques. Finally, the client was provided with a country ranking of potential export markets. The combination of both qualitative and quantitative factors applied on a macro and micro-economic level add significant value to Bimbosan AG and concurrently supply an occasion for further and more in-depth market research.
