The effectiveness and sustainability of aid grants have always been debatable among economic researchers and other development agencies and to date no consensus has been reached as to whether aid grants are effective and sustainable or not. Various contradicting reports have been presented on this issue and the views of different researchers are discussed. For aid dependent countries like Ethiopia, assessing factors influencing aid effectiveness and sustainability is very important. In this regard, this study has aimed at examining the effective-ness and sustainability of aid-funded HIV/AIDS projects in Oromia region, Ethiopia.
