fhnw.leadThis thesis offers a step-by-step analysis of processes related to child, education and family allowances in Novartis Switzerland. It further yields optimizations of these processes ensuring the client value creation, time and cost saving, as well as increased quality.
fhnw.initialPositionNovartis presented to have issues in the processes of family allowances within the Human Resources Services department. The issues have been brought to attention by the department as well as involved stakeholders. The nature and extent of these issues were to be further investigated. Since Novartis Switzerland held no official records or notes of these processes, it was difficult to locate the issues at their source. Novartis could not estimate the risk, cost or the effort of time that was implied with these issues and sought to have an analysis and mapping of all processes.
fhnw.procedureThe thesis offers a representative and conclusive approach by analyzing the process, identifying and locating problems and outlining possible solutions. An analysis of all stakeholders involved a detailed mapping of the existing five processes and the definition of responsibilities within these processes helped to identify inefficiencies related to IT, organizational structures and responsibilities, as well as process control. Accordingly, optimization possibilities were outlined and thoroughly evaluated after expert consultation.
fhnw.resultsIt can be confirmed, that all solutions provide both low risks and high attractiveness, and propose enhancements for the HRS processes for child, education and family allowances in terms of time, quality and cost. For many solutions, an alternative is given, which offers a foundation for the issue elimination, promising an improvement in any case. Further, the relationships with all stakeholders included in the processes, are improved with regards to communication, cooperation, and productivity. The process optimization therefore offers feasibility, yields success, and requires mostly little time and effort, benefits Novartis employees and Novartis? allocation office partners. The optimization fosters HRS processes, contributing to the ever-increasing performance of Novartis Switzerland.
