Publikation Cloud computing in the logistics industry(Hochschule für Wirtschaft FHNW, 2015) Gomez, Marisabel; Gatziu Grivas, StellaThe logistics industry faces challenges that are not only related to cost. Customers’ expectations increase with demands such as same day delivery, at their door and at specific times. While traditional logistics service providers must continue the quest for greater efficiencies such as lower cost and faster delivery, they also have to engage in a continuous search for better, more effective ways, of delivering on each customer’s unique set of demands. Cloud computing has made technology accessible and affordable, but its benefits expand further. Cloud computing can be a platform to integrate players of a supply chain, and bring together other technologies to make even better use of them. With cloud computing as an enabler, exchanging data among different players and their connected devices, and adding an overlay of analytics can optimise processes in the industry. As an example, vehicle routes can be optimized using cloud to combine data streams coming from location sensors, incoming pick up orders and traffic alerts. Additionally, the accessibility and affordability of cloud services can accelerate such innovation. This thesis focuses on designing a Cloud Benefits Suggestion tool for movecloud.ch as a means to guide third party logistics companies on specific cloud benefits that provide opportunities for process improvements. This tool takes into consideration a company’s current situation and processes and based on this provides relevant recommendations of potential benefits that may be realized via the cloud in combination with other trending technologies.11 - Studentische ArbeitPublikation Digitalisation in Logistics and the Role of Cloud Computing: How Cloud Computing will Change the Game(vnl SCHWEIZ, 2015) Gomez, Marisabel; Grand, Shanti; Gatziu Grivas, StellaToday in the era of digitalisation Cloud Computing is ubiquitous and the speed of the Transformation of business models in several industries because of cloud is more and more accelerated.
