According to IPCC calculations, the EU27 will have a residual budget for emissions of 20 Gt CO2 from 2021 to limit global warming to a maximum of 1.5 degrees. An 80% reduction in emissions by 2030 corresponds to a path within this budget framework. The EU would have to be CO2-neutral by 2035 at the latest. The demands by FFF are consistent with the 1.5 degree target. They are based on climate science and are politically and economically within the range of what is necessary and feasible.05 - Forschungs- oder Arbeitsbericht

In this article, they provide the full text of the statement, including the list of supporting facts (in both English and German) as well as an analysis of the results and impacts of the statement. Furthermore, they reflect on the challenges for scientists and scholars who feel a dual responsibility: on the one hand, to remain independent and politically neutral, and, on the other hand, to inform and warn societies of the dangers that lie ahead.01A - Beitrag in wissenschaftlicher Zeitschrift
