Validation of the ActiSmile Physical Activity Feedback Device in Activity Assessment
2013-12-30T00:00:00Z, Ruch, Nicole, Hänggi, Johanna, Tuch, Carolin, Mäder, Urs
The aim of this study was to investigate the validity of the ActiSmile, a physical activity feedback device, in the estimation of energy expenditure.
Validation of a wrist-worn activity monitor in the estimation of energy expenditure during daily activities
2013-06-01T00:00:00Z, Hänggi, Johanna, Tuch, Carolin, Laukkanen, Raija, Ruch, Nicole
The Polar FA20 (FA20) is a wrist-worn activity monitor that measures accelerations and determines three types of physical activity (PA) intensities (light, health- and fitness-related activity) based on acceleration data. Furthermore, it determines PA energy expenditure (EE) and provides a personal feedback about performed activity on the display of the monitor. The aim of this study was to determine the accuracy of the FA20 activity watch in terms of activity recognition and EE.
Verhältnisse von Sport und Medien in kindlichen Lebenswelten in der Schweiz (Sport-Medien-Kinder)
Neural network versus activity-specific prediction equations for energy expenditure estimation in children
2013-08-29T00:00:00Z, Ruch, Nicole, Joss, Franziska, Jimmy, Gerda, Melzer, Katarina, Hänggi, Johanna, Mäder, Urs
The aim of this study was to compare two different methods for the prediction of energy expenditure during physical activity in children based on accelerometer data.
Validation of the GT3X ActiGraph in children and comparison with the GT1M ActiGraph
2013, Hänggi, Johanna, Phillips, Lisa, Rowlands, Alex
The GT1M ActiGraph, a device to assess physical activity, has been replaced by the triaxial GT3X which includes an inclinometer to detect postures. The purpose of this study was to investigate comparability of the GT3X to the GT1M and to develop activity intensity cut-points for the vector magnitude of the GT3X (VM(GT3X)) in children. Additionally, the study aimed to assess the validity of the GT3X inclinometer for detecting postures.
