Description
Abstract
To achieve sustainable operation in the energy and transportation sectors, the transition to alternative fuels like ammonia or ammonia/hydrogen blends is mandatory for large engine technology. Since the combustion behavior significantly differs between conventional and non-carbon fuels, investigations on the structure and propagation of ammonia and ammonia-hydrogen flames are the key for understanding phenomena that occur when these new fuels are used. To explain observations and being able to develop adequate simulation models, fundamental measurements are performed within this project. FHNW-ITFE will provide measurements performed at different optically accessible test rigs and corresponding thermodynamic analysis.
