Zusammenfassung
NH₃ is a promising fuel for large engines, especially in international shipping, as its combustion produces no CO₂. However, prototype setups show high emissions of NOx, NH₃, and N₂O.
This project focuses on understanding catalyst behavior in complex exhaust gas containing these pollutants to recommend strategies for emission reduction in future NH₃-fueled engines. Fe exchanged zeolite catalysts will be studied, assessing the impact of acidic properties and effects of hydrothermal and chemical aging. Exhaust gas compositions of real NH₃ engines will be considered, incorporating additional pollutants, such as hydrocarbons, into laboratory model gas investigations to better reflect practical conditions.
