Abstract
The travelling business still remains one of the most lucrative targets for the e-commerce business, having a higher than average growth and with consumers in an intrinsic need to spend. A lot of major brands are trying out new services and products with the solo purpose to ease the travel journey. However, while big brands may have come up with some striking features, they haven’t yet cracked the concept of seamless travel experience. Seamless travelling has been a buzzword for many decades now, according to experts of the industry like Jared Simon, chief operating officer and co-founder of HotelTonight, the seamless travel experience has been an industry goal for years, with countless companies attempting to tackle various components of the travel lifecycle. Yet in spite of this, today travelling remains a very disjointed experience. Travellers still have to use multiple service providers at multiple junctions throughout an entire journey. But the technology is changing every day and the moment a seamless travelling platform/app emerges is near. This Thesis deals with the case for a seamless travelling platform/app and for it business model for Switzerland. In addition the thesis will try to provide some information about the potential for the freemium business model.
