Abstract
Financial inclusion is one of the topics that the CBJ (Central Bank of Jordan) attaches to the highest priority within their various objectives, under the patronage and support of the Government of Jordan at its highest levels. A recent study in 2017 by CBJ and GIZ (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit) shows the low percentage of citizens covered by financial services in Jordan, where only 33% of youth have bank accounts and only 27% of them are women (GIZ, 2017). That was during the financial inclusion forum held in Jordan for the official announcement of the national financial inclusion strategy as the first country in the region at the time when the writing of this thesis was almost completed (AFI, 2017b). This thesis builds on a case study for the implementation of mobile money services for residents in Jordan. Supported by understanding the implementation of the same service by the most successful to date and the most widespread in Kenya M-PESA, which taken as a benchmark by reviewing the context of both countries and understanding the needs for the service.
