Abstract
It is not uncommon to hear testimonies of people that in a moment of great difficulty in their lives, or in moments where a break from the hectic everyday life is needed, or as survivors of a serious burnout, decided – or are deciding - to undertake a pilgrimage. The Camino de Santiago de Compostela in Spain is often one of these goals to reach, also for many pilgrims living in Switzerland.
For the first time in the history of the six non-profit Swiss Jakobsweg associations, the Swiss Jakobsweg Dachverband (the umbrella organization of the Swiss Camino associations) organized a one-day entirely dedicated to the Swiss Camino roads in Switzerland. During the 20th of Mai 2017, through 46 routes covering the entire country, 46 pilgrims’ guides (Pilgerbegleitern and Pilgerbegleterinnen) walked with pilgrims, covering the historical itineraries of the Swiss Camino in Switzerland.
