Zusammenfassung
In today’s era of ubiquitous computing and mobile commerce, Swiss SMEs could profit a lot from offering their customers a way to pay mobile. An appropriate and well-chosen mobile payment solution could help them to attract new customers, increase their sales and lower their transaction costs. However, in Switzerland, SMEs are confronted with a complex and multifaceted mobile payments market which makes it difficult to select an adequate mobile payment solution. This paper aims to address this problem and give merchants a basis to choose the right mobile payment solution. In order to ensure high quality of the results, the study has been designed as an in-depth rather than a broad analysis and is therefore limited to remote mobile payments only. To achieve the goal of this study and provide Swiss merchants with sound recommendations, several steps were necessary. First, an extensive literature review was conducted to create a strong foundation for the study. Second, the Swiss market was researched to identify different mobile payment scenarios and to classify the existing mobile payment methods. Based on the gathered information about the mobile payment market in Switzerland, a web-based survey was created and sent to customers and prospects in the German-speaking part of Switzerland.
