dc.description.abstractAs we are entering the digitalization era, companies are eager to be agile and flexible enough to change and transform, not only within the enterprise but also to integrate and to blend in the entire business ecosystem digitally to meet the ever-changing and growing customer expectations. This is affecting all industries, and the digitalization effect on the pharmaceutical industry is not any less than others. Even though pharmaceutical companies work in the controlled environment but now they started looking at emerging technologies to endeavor them. The goal of the thesis is to understand better the pharmaceutical industry, pharma R&D processes, digital transformation frameworks, digital trends and challenges faced by the pharma R&D. A generic existing eVISOR framework for digital transformation, which could be used for different industries, but there is no pharmaceutical industry-specific framework for digital transformation because pharma industry is complex, highly regulated and work in the controlled environment, pharma R&D processes are relatively complex and are interrelated to each other. Thus the gap is to extend and modify a generic eVISOR framework to build digital maturity tool through which self-assessment will be provided to the pharmaceutical industry with the focus on R&D process for digital transformation....
