To remain competitive in today’s fast-moving world, companies should be flexible. Increasing numbers of enterprises are adopting the agile organisation to enable their organisation to respond to constant change. The transition requires a profound change for existing businesses. Banks and SMEs have taken this step less often than average. The literature research has shown that hardly any documentation is available for this area. This master’s thesis aims to develop a guideline for SMEs in the banking sector that supports their adaptation to an agile organisation. For this purpose, the following two research questions were posed: What does success mean in an organisational transformation? What kind of agile organisational transformation guide is needed to support a banking SME in a successful transformation? Design Science Research was chosen as the research strategy because of its pragmatic approach and the central role of the artefact. The literature provided the author with the necessary expertise. The practical course was developed through interviews and workshops within Clientis AG and finally evaluated with different parties of the Clientis Group.
