Understanding Early Sound Technology in the Digital Age explores how phonographs, gramophones, and acoustic recording methods from approximately 1885–1925 can be researched and communicated through digital humanities. Presented within INFUSE, the installation connects early sound technology with performance practice, music consumption, and sound aesthetics. It combines digital access with material and sensory encounters, demonstrating that digitization can broaden research and public engagement but cannot replace physical artifacts. The contribution advocates a hybrid approach integrating digital tools, historical objects, listening, and interactive formats.
