Abstract
Digital transformation is at the top of the to-do list of almost every company. Despite this, none of the existing digital maturity models focus on a specific process, much less on the accounts payable (AP) process, and provide tools that support organizations in doing a motivation- and situation analysis on process level during the transformation phase of digitalization. The goal of this research project is to create a framework that provides organizations with the ability to identify their current status as well as the target position concerning the digital transformation of the AP process. During the design science research process, a framework based on expert workshops and literature review was developed. The evaluation process included a further workshop with experts from the field of the AP process. The research findings indicate that the developed framework is a suitable method to support organizations for the digital transformation of their AP process. Furthermore, the usefulness of the different artefacts has been unveiled by a successful adaption of the framework.
