Zusammenfassung
Parmar et al. (2020) suggest that the concept of digital twins can be extended from digital representations of physical objects to digital representations of entire organizations. According to Kerremans (2017) a Digital Twin of an Organisation (DTO) aims to help companies explore their options and reduce the risks of future decisions, but many companies do not know how they should implement a digital twin in their organization (Lunardi, see Appendix 11.1.1). In this master thesis proposal, digital twins will be explored, and exciting use cases will be presented. The basis will be established to create a framework for the implementation of a specific digital twin of an organization. In the literature review it was explored that there are different use cases for organizational digital twins. A ranking list was created which evaluates the use cases according to cost savings, increased revenue and customer experience. The use cases performance/cost optimisation and customer experience management promise most impact. From the interviews it emerged that the performance/cost optimisation case is indeed very exciting and could be used in almost every company. Therefore, the thesis focuses on the creation of a guide for a DTO in the area of cost and performance optimisation. With the help of the expert interviews and the sources, a checklist was created for each of the five steps to help users understand what they need to do and what is important when building a DTO for cost and performance optimisation. The aim of the checklist is that the reader conceptually knows how to proceed step by step to implement a DTO. After successful implementation of a DTO for performance and cost optimisation, the organization benefits from advantages such as efficiency optimisation, real time monitoring, process simulations and cost savings.
