Abstract
The Libro primo d’Arie passeggiate(1612) by G. G. Kapsperger is a print containing 22 pieces written for voice, a bass line, and a continuo realisation for chitarone in tablature. Due to the absence of continuo figures, the harmonic information lies entirely within the chitarone part, and so one cannot access it if one cannot read tablature. A transcription of the tablature into music staff notation is valuable, therefore, both for those wishing to analyse the music, as well as for performers (especially if one wants to use a second continuo instrument along with the chitarone). The transcription included in this edition is intended for both of these purposes.
