Gaetano Borghi. A study of his life and performances in Caldara’s works

Abstract

This research focuses on Gaetano Borghi, a tenor who worked in the Hofmusikkapelle in Vienna during the first half of the 18th century. The specific period of interest is from 1724 to 1736, during which Borghi collaborated with Antonio Caldara, composer. The research aims to analyse the arias written by Caldara for Borghi during this time, with a focus on the vocal elements. The goal is to gain a precise understanding of Borghi's voice and its unique context within Viennese music of the early 18th century.
