The two research questions how can Artificial Intelligence (AI) be used in cybersecurity (CS) defense, and what types of Artificial Intelligence techniques are used in cybersecurity, assess the statement: In CS, AI is a promising technique to mitigate CS-related risks. By using the NIST Cybersecurity Framework (CSF) and the Parkerian Hexad Security Attributes as the basis, relevant AI use cases for CS have been identified and are presented in the form of a Heatmap. Based on the Heatmap, companies can choose relevant use cases tailored to their purpose. In a later section, three use cases, Fault Proneness of Software, Intelligent Honeypotting, and Behavioral Access Management have been examined in greater detail. Although no final answer can be found on the technology used, the most characteristic feature is a combination of a knowledge base, built using pre-defined rules and algorithms and further optimized by applying a Machine learning (ML) technique.
