Abstract
This research introduces the Technology Evaluation and Adoption Influence Framework (TEA-Influence Framework), a merger of factors influencing technology evaluation and adoption by small, medium, and micro-sized enterprises (SMMEs) in the insurance broker industry. Not only insurance brokers, but all industries are facing challenges as emerging technologies are set to disrupt existing business models. Therefore, the evaluation and adoption of new technologies has become more important. Brokers, as middle man between insurance companies and end customers, are highly affected by emerging technologies, which will soon be able to take over the role of most intermediaries. In order to persevere as relevant players, brokers need to understand the influences affecting their digital transformation journey. Compared to existing research on influence factors, the TEA-Influence Framework represents an internationally valid and conclusive framework for the evaluation and adoption of technology on a sensitising level, and it includes appropriate guidelines for application. It may help brokers to identify fields of action and define areas in which a company must transform.
