Abstract
Cloud computing has become a point of interest not only among users of the technology but also within larger organizations as a whole. Different combinations of cloud computing service models enable companies to take their internal information technology into the cloud. In this thesis, cloud computing technology was examined from the point of view of the pharmaceutical industry. Several other trending technologies were also examined, since they can be used in combination with the cloud to achieve process optimization of processes in the pharmaceutical industry. The goal of the thesis is to better understand the pharmaceutical industry, the value chain in the industry, as well as the trends and challenges faced by the industry. In addition, this research provides a better understanding of cloud computing technology and how this technology can be utilized, together with other existing and emerging technologies, to achieve optimization of business processes in the pharmaceutical industry....
