Platform Evaluation and Mortgage Offer Tracking Application Conception

Baloise Group launched the program Digital Workplace late in 2018. One of the goals of this program is to replace the IBM Domino platform. As part of the Digital Workplace program, a migration plan has to be developed for all remaining applications provided on this platform. The division Bank SoBa is using the Mortgage Offer Tracking application provided on this platform to manage mortgage provisions and control the performance of the sales representative body. As a separate project, the division intends to replace the mortgage management application where the functionality of the Mortgage Offer Tracking application might be integrated.

powerGhosts & defensiveGhosts – Enhanced ghost team controller based on Ant Colony Optimization for Ms. Pac-Man

This paper presents an improved controller based on Ant Colony Optimization for the ghost team of Ms. Pac-Man. The controller is an enhanced version of fairGhosts which is based on the ghostAnt framework. Various improvements were implemented in terms of parameters and concepts. Especially for the explorer ants, fairGhosts uses a simplified version, as the exact reasoning for the proposed concepts could not be determined in the ghostAnt framework. In this paper, two new types of ghost teams are proposed after the modifications were conducted: powerGhosts and defensiveGhosts. powerGhosts take into account the power pill aspect for stopping criteria and solution quality of the explorer ants, and defensiveGhosts additionally involve a threshold of Ms. Pac-Man’s distance to the nearest power pill for the hunter ants, so as not to be caught easily. Test results show that the powerGhosts version shows on average 15% better results than the initial fairGhosts setup, while defensiveGhosts performs equal or slightly worse than the initial implementation. It can be concluded that including the power pill aspect in the explorer ants concept shows an improved performance of the ghost team. On the other hand, the concept of distancing ghosts from Ms. Pac-Man when she is near a power pill did not result in any significant improvement.

The digital transformation is changing society and business life more than ever. With changing customer demands towards digital products and accelerated service delivery, companies in the insurance sector need to focus on IT modernisation, digital transformation, growth and expansion. Microservice architecture (MSA) with the characteristic of rapid, frequent and reliable delivery of large, complex applications is believed to solve all these problems with a revolutionary service-oriented architecture style. However, these benefits also come at a cost, which becomes apparent when analysing the integration challenges and comparing microservice-oriented architectures with other software designs such as monolithic architectures. Decentralised and distributed software architecture combined with a message or event driven communication in orchestrated and choreography-oriented environments brings several challenges that need to be addressed....
