Abstract
The digital transformation is changing society and business life more than ever. With changing customer demands towards digital products and accelerated service delivery, companies in the insurance sector need to focus on IT modernisation, digital transformation, growth and expansion. Microservice architecture (MSA) with the characteristic of rapid, frequent and reliable delivery of large, complex applications is believed to solve all these problems with a revolutionary service-oriented architecture style. However, these benefits also come at a cost, which becomes apparent when analysing the integration challenges and comparing microservice-oriented architectures with other software designs such as monolithic architectures. Decentralised and distributed software architecture combined with a message or event driven communication in orchestrated and choreography-oriented environments brings several challenges that need to be addressed....
