Beyond the stars: design and evaluation of a trustworthy reputation review system in the context of sharing economy

Abstract

one11 developed a socio-technical ecosystem combining a digital platform with physical meeting points to strengthen social cohesion in the local communities. This feasibility study focused on designing a novel reputation review system for the one11 community to ensure inclusivity, fairness, and accessibility and avoid marginalization of key user groups (older adults, people with low digital literacy, or newcomers without an established reputation on the platform). The research addresses the limitations of current rating systems in the context of the sharing economy, which oversimplifies user exchanges into a single score and neglects multifaceted aspects of trust (familiarity, safety, reliability, proximity).
