The ‘Night Vision’ master’s thesis sheds light on a world that is usually hidden. At the heart of this thesis, references are made to lingerie that suddenly transforms from underclothes to outer clothing and wilderness, infused with a distinctive notion of luxury. Raw, delicate and with a strong sense of craftsmanship, the EMMBER collection aims to introduce a new savage beauty. It consists of 13 looks that reflect the duo’s artisanship in latex and the omnipresent hybridisation in design, blurring the lines between accessories and clothing. Sensuality is a driving force in the work of Reto Emmenegger and Samantha Graber and is used to forge a deeper connection between the wearer and the garments. Latex in particular, due to its multi-sensory qualities and erotic connotations, serves as a catalyst to trigger these strong emotional responses. The looks suit a variety of body types and promote a more inclusive point of view when it comes to clothing, actively challenging current social constructs regarding gender, age and size.
