Abstract
Entrepreneurship is of great economic importance. During new venture development, it is particularly the person of the entrepreneur who decides on success or failure of the newly established business. With the methodology of the method for analyzing the demands of university studies (MEVAS, Hell, Ptok & Schuler, 2007), critical incidents for entrepreneurs were collected in workshops. Subsequently, the critical behaviors using online survey were validated by 155 entrepreneurs and a factor analysis was carried out. The seven requirement dimensions were tested for their predictive power on the criteria of business success and on their meaning in different phases of new venture development. The requirement dimensions being flexible and convince and lead prudently could contribute a significant contribution to the business success criterion growth regarding employment. Lead prudently and integrate private life are particularly in later phases of new venture development of relevance. The results of existing requirement analysis may be called upon for the design of consulting and development measures for entrepreneurs.
