Abstract
In my master's thesis, I intensively investigated the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in the design process and its application to mobility. The theoretical part dealt with the integration of AI into the design process by analyzing the approach of Tale Designstudio GmbH and evaluating various tools. These findings formed the basis for the practical part of my work, particularly in the development of the Kyburz Plus 2045 senior mobility scooter. The use of AI provided me with significant support in addressing specific requirements. Demographic change shows that the number of people over 80 in Switzerland will rise from 0.41 million to 1.11 million by 2045. People aged 75 and over must pass regular driving tests in order to keep their driver's license. The senior mobility scooter offers an alternative mobility solution that gives them continued mobility and therefore a degree of freedom even after they lose their ability to drive. In close collaboration with Kyburz, I developed the concept for the Kyburz Plus 2 senior mobility scooter, specifically for the year 2045, integrating AI especially in the initial and design phase of the design process, supported by various tools. The design of the Kyburz Plus 2045 was based on the lines and round headlights of the Kyburz Plus 2. The interior was created almost entirely from recycled materials, with a minimalist and functional design that is specifically geared towards the needs of people with disabilities. This includes grab handles on the dashboard for easier entry and exit as well as various grip points and storage space under the seat. The design of the Kyburz Plus 2045 combines ergonomic requirements for people with disabilities with state-of-the-art technology. The synergy of my design expertise and the use of AI has resulted in a concept that specifically addresses the needs of people with disabilities, particularly with regard to safe entry and exit and ergonomic aspects.
