dc.description.abstract„All good things happen outside your comfort zone.“ But is that true? For my thesis work, I am taking a closer look at my comfort zone and the ones of my friends I chose as models for my performance. While creating this capsule collection, my cast is involved in the process and we have an intimate exchange about the comfort of their bodies and minds. I celebrate slow fashion and learned new techniques such as knitting, crocheting, screen printing and embroidery and combined them with my existing skills in tailoring and leatherworking. This focus on craftsmanship goes hand in hand with processing emotions, as I have learned that spending time on a particular craft can have a meditative side effect and be part of a healing process. Different comfort zones are brought to life through body expanding silhouettes, different textures of textile surfaces and transformative garments to create a protective layer on the skin.
