dc.description.abstractClothing that is involved in distinct social practices and identitary groups has stood at the center of my artistic work in fashion. In my practice I deal with the aesthetic codes of clothing that is loaded with stigmas and prejudice and use these as tools. The formation of an exclusionary group is the social mechanism that underlies both Swiss traditional dress and football kits. Working with their codes has allowed me to unearth the ambivalences and nuances of these garment vocabularies. My work stages the performative and visual strategies involved in these systems of clothing and, drawing on their forms, proposes an alternative language for fashion.
