As Switzerland aims to decarbonize its economy, the demand for sustainable solutions is growing. Green hydrogen is playing an important role for carbon neutrality by 2050 but the domestic green hydrogen production is insufficient for the decarbonization objectives and forces to look for alternatives such us green ammonia. Green ammonia emerges as a possible long-term energy storage and transportation alternative which can be converted back to hydrogen. A major Swiss utility wants to investigate the viability of importing green ammonia within the EU by 2030.
