Abstract
Light can illuminate the world in many ways. Even if we do not always actively think about the existence of light, it is an essential part of our lives. It influences for example people's emotions by defining the atmosphere around of a room. With a specifically selected light staging, people have always given certain places and moments a special value. The present work is dedicated to this multifaceted role of light. The aim was to develop a lamp that enables customized light staging in interior spaces through intuitive gesture control. The exploratory design process was concerned with technological expectations and sensorial habits. For this purpose, experiments of different lighting systems between craft and sensor technology were carried out. Therefor, the project explores a field of tension and interaction between high-quality craft techniques and new technologies.
