Abstract
This thesis examines the question if a tailored guidebook improves the awareness of cyber security in micro-enterprises. The guidebook is a tool that can be used continuously as security questions arise. It focuses on general medical practitioners who own their own practice. The target group is not necessarily technically oriented, but may be au000bected by the current threat of cyber attacks and therefore required to know the legal regulations. Often cyber security tasks are outsourced, however the responsibility remains with the owner of the micro-enterprise. In this thesis, data about the needs of general medical practitioner's (n = 7) needs in cyber security was gathered with interviews. The results of which were then used to compile requested information into a guidebook. A draft of the guidebook was then tested with a group of general medical practitioners and their employees (n = 24) to collect feedback with a questionnaire. An increase in cyber security awareness after reading an advanced draft of the guidebook was expected. In the scope of the investigations of this thesis it was found that a guidebook tailored to the needs of micro-enterprises such as general practitioners did increase awareness about possible threats to their data and how cyber security awareness can be used to avert them. Measurements on whether the awareness was strengthened over a longer period of time with the guidebook would have to be done in follow-up work.
