Zusammenfassung
Due to ART, people with HIV are living longer and reaching old age. Despite the growing number of older people living with HIV, there is only little knowledge about aging with HIV from a social science perspective. The aim of this cross-sectional study was to identify the living conditions and the quality of life of an aging HIV-positive population in Switzerland. 72 HIV-positive persons aged over 50 filled in an anonymous standardized questionnaire, either paper-pencil or online. Descriptive and inferential statistics were performed. Mental and physical health problems, a high degree of needed assistance, and financial problems decrease the quality of life. Social relationships are a supportive factor in maintaining a good quality of life. More than half of the respondents under 65 years weren't integrated into the labor market. Beside offers to support mental health and social networks, also work integration should be fostered.
