Publikation An experiment with an optimization game(2019) Pustulka, Elzbieta; Hanne, Thomas; Adriaensen, Benjamin; Eggenschwiler, Stefan; Kaba, Egemen; Wetzel, Richard; Blashki, Katherine; Xiao, YingcaiWe aim to improve the teaching of the principles of optimization, including computational intelligence (CI), to a mixed audience of business and computer science students. Our students do not always have sufficient programming or mathematics experience and may be put off by the expected difficulty of the course. In this context we are testing the potential of games in teaching. We deployed a game prototype (design probe) and found out that the prototype led to increased student motivation, intuitive understanding of the principles of optimization, and strong interaction in a team. Ultimately, with the future work we sketch out, this novel approach could improve the learning and understanding of optimization algorithms and CI in general, contributing to the future of Explainable AI (XAI).04B - Beitrag KonferenzschriftPublikation Integrating Graphical Models with Ontologies on AOAME(Hochschule für Wirtschaft FHNW, 2020) Kaba, Egemen; Hinkelmann, Knut; Pande, Charuta; Laurenzi, EmanueleDomain experts frequently create and change models of complex systems. In an ever faster changing and turbulent environment, enterprises must implement those changes in a timely and agile manner. The modeller should be supported with tools to reason about and analyse a knowledge base containing models to support decision-making processes. This work aims to create an artefact which automatically translates models into an ontology and link them to meta-model constructs. For this purpose, AOAME, the Agile and Ontology-Aided Meta-Modelling Environment, is extended with modelling capability. This meta-modelling environment is chosen as it stores all components of a modelling language in ontologies. The main question to answer is how meta-models of graphical modelling languages defined in an ontology can instantiate models. This research question is broken down into steps defining modelling situations, designing the links of the models to the metamodels, and the actual implementation in AOAME....11 - Studentische Arbeit
