Publikation How to support customer segmentation with useful cluster descriptions(Springer, 2015) Witschel, Hans Friedrich; Loo, Simon; Riesen, Kaspar; Perner, PetraCustomer or market segmentation is an important instrument for the optimisation of marketing strategies and product portfolios. Clustering is a popular data mining technique used to support such segmentation – it groups customers into segments that share certain demographic or behavioural characteristics. In this research, we explore several automatic approaches which support an important task that starts after the actual clustering, namely capturing and labeling the “essence” of segments. We conducted an empirical study by implementing several of these approaches, applying them to a data set of customer representations and studying the way our study participants interacted with the resulting cluster representations. Major goal of the present paper is to find out which approaches exhibit the greatest ease of understanding on the one hand and which of them lead to the most correct interpretation of cluster essence on the other hand. The SAHC provides an intuitive visualization of regional variations of medical care delivery and thus allows for a broad diffusion of the contents. That is why the SAHC became widely accepted amongst health care stakeholders. In 2021, the relaunch of the SAHC was initiated to update as well as significantly expand the scope of measures depicted on the platform, also integrating indicators for outpatient care in order to better reflect the linkages between inpatient and outpatient health care provision. In the course of this relaunch, the statistical and technical aspects of the SAHC have been reviewed and updated. To address these problems, the authors suggest a learning path focusing on cultural differences in learning features. A constructivist perspective was adopted to develop the learning paths. The research strategy was Design Science Research. Two interviews were conducted with the only two course leaders, one from each culture, at the case company, M&S Inc. The results demonstrate that the value systems in the two cultures differ in the areas of law, authority, and design. With features such as a checklist of learning objectives, a reminder that the learning content may differ from what onboarding employees are used to, a wiki for self-study, or discussion forums show especially variation in learning path in the introductory area and concluding area. These differences reflect the cultural differences between the Swiss and Indian participants. By addressing the differences in learning paths, the paper helps to improve learning outcomes and understanding. Thus, this paper contributes to the acceptance of two cultures by comparing the two cultures of Switzerland and India and considering the derived learning characteristics, which contributes to higher satisfaction and performance.04B - Beitrag Konferenzschrift
