The NetAcademy - A Novel Approach to Domain-specific Scientific Knowledge Accumulation, Dissemination and Review.
(1998) Lincke, David-Michael; Schmid, Beat; Schubert, Petra; Selz, Dorian
Over the last decade the speed at which knowledge is generated has greatly accelerated, thus exacerbating the problem of finding the right information at the right time and posing new kinds of challenges to the management of an ever increasing pool of knowledge. Taking up the ideas of the ancient Greek concept of Academia, the ?NetAcademy? is aiming at providing a knowledge medium to aid in the creation, integration, reviewing and dissemination of domain-specific knowledge in the scientific community taking full advantage of the unique characteristics of the Internet medium. The vision is to offer an open structure and management concept for virtually any kind of field of research in search of an intelligible organization of its contents. The paper emphasizes on the motivation of the NetAcademy concept and its feasibility on the basis of available Internet technologies.

(Gesellschaft für Informatik, 25.03.2009) Brun, Roman; Hinkelmann, Knut; Telesko, Rainer; Thönssen, Barbara; Bludau, Hans-Bernd; Koop, Andreas; Hinkelmann, Knut; Wache, Holger
In this paper we describe a multi-dimensional framework for knowledge maturing and learning. The framework consists of seven dimensions and supports the assessment of the knowledge management as-is-state in a company as well as the selection of appropriate approaches and methods for a further improvement. The paper also discusses the relationship to comparable approaches (e.g. intellectual capital statements) and ends with open issues for a proper implementation of the maturity framework.

Die NetAcademy als Medium für die Learning Community eines Masterprogramms an der Universität St. Gallen
(Josef Eul Verlag, 1999) Schubert, Petra; Seufert, Sabine; Engelien, Martin; Homann, Jens

From Full Text Search to Semantic Web: The Infofox Project
    (2003) Sigrist, Barbara; Schubert, Petra
Infofox is a project launched by the Ecademy, the National Network of Excellence of the Swiss Universities of Applied Sciences for e-business and e-government. The paper discusses an envisioned improvement of the service level of the Ecademy Web site, an information portal which is set to integrate valuable information from the different member schools. The goal of the Infofox project is the development of an intelligent search engine. In order to fully exploit the potential of the information provided by the Ecademy members, the Infofox project team will need to implement aspects of a Semantic Web ? namely an ontology built upon a joint classification scheme and a set of inference rules. The RIP paper presents the basic concept and the results of the first phase of the project.
