Zusammenfassung
This master thesis treats the question of limitations and possibilities of decision making in combination with case-based reasoning. On the basis of a real-world application where decision making with rules is applied, a possible extension with case-based reasoning is explored. Background theories claim that a combination of these two reasoning methods can improve the decision-making and describe different possible approaches to combine rule-based and case-based reasoning. The problem domain is about employees who are sent by their employer to work in another country for a limited period of time and remain subject to the social security legislation of the sending country if certain conditions are fulfilled. This decision-making process is complex due to the large set of possible conditions. The Federal Social Insurance Oce Switzerland (FSIO) is implementing a web-application to support decision making. The web-application shall be able to automatically determine cases. One approach could be to model all decision rules in a decision model that can be automatically executed. This will however not be possible for all cases due to the complexity of the decision-making process....
