Abstract
The theme of ‘migration’ has become a popular teaching topic in order to address social issues such as belonging, discrimination, equal opportunities and participation in school life. Empirical findings show, however, that didactics of history and poli- tics are challenged in development and conceptual work so that current teaching practice can move away from the simple reproduction of hegemonic orders of belonging. Historical approaches offer an opportunity to critically discuss shifts in discourse and the constructedness of social categories.
