Publikation Sequenzbildung in der Automobilmontage anhand von materialorientierten Nivellierungsstrategien. Analyse der Auswirkungen auf die innerbetriebliche Materialversorgung(Cuvillier Verlag, 2014) Wörner, DominikSchwankende Bedarfsmengen bei der Materialversorgung in der Endmontage der Automobilindustrie führen zu einem erhöhten logistischen Ressourcenbedarf. Um diesen zusätzlichen Bedarf zu reduzieren, wurde das Konzept der materialorientierten Nivellierung entwickelt. Jedoch führt der Einsatz einer materialorientierten Nivellierung nicht zwangsweise zu einer Reduktion von logistischen Ressourcen. In der vorliegenden Arbeit werden die Zusammenhänge zwischen den Bedarfsmengen und der innerbetrieblichen Materialversorgung dargestellt sowie anhand eines simulativen Bewertungsmodells untersucht. Weiterhin werden Rahmenbedingungen für den erfolgreichen Einsatz einer materialorienterten Nivellierung identifiziert, um den Ressourceneinsatz der innerbetrieblichen Materialversorgung zu reduzieren. Business Process as a Service provides the end-to-end cloud support for business processes instead of single applications. A graphical modelling environment allows non-technical modelers to design business processes and to specify requirements in human-interpretable way. Via semantic lifting, the graphical models can be annotated with classes and values from an enterprise ontology. The BPaaS Ontology contains the relevant classes for the smart Business and IT-Cloud alignment. It supports the modeler in using a standard terminology and thus ensures consistent modeling. BIT is about the application of information technology in business with the focus on building information systems. Since several terms, it can be observed that a considerable number of students faces difficulties in modules related to programming and mathematics at the beginning of the study. In order to monitor the aptitude of the program for beginners a project was launched with the aim to develop a method and a web-tool supporting the self-assessment related to indispensable competencies in the BIT program. Methodology: The aptitude test - built with Google Forms - currently consists of 31 predefined multiple choice questions and calculates an overall aptitude value and single aptitude values for the main categories logical and analytical thinking, understanding algorithms and abstract thinking. The questions are taken from well-established test systems like ELIGO-System, BOMAT, CASA etc. and are typically solved within less than 45 minutes. The students can check their suitability for the study programme by comparing their overall aptitude value with a given threshold. First test runs conducted with the tool confirm the validity of the aptitude test. The future scope will involve more students and deal with an analysis of concrete weaknesses that can be used as input to adapt the settings of programming and mathematics modules.06 - PräsentationPublikation Development of a measurement scale for business process standardization(2018) Wurm, Sebastian; Schmiedel, Theresa; Mendling, Jan; Fleig, ChristianProcess-oriented companies face the dichotomy of process standardization versus process diversity. On the one hand, multinational companies try to realize returns of scale by standardization. On the other hand, markets require businesses to adapt to local needs and government regulations. As of to-day, there is no framework available to measure the degree of process standardization. This is both a problem for companies that want to assess their degree of standardization as well as for research that aims to investigate standardization and its connection with other concepts. In this paper, we address this research gap from the perspective of scale development. We utilize a well-acknowledged method for devising a measurement instrument to specifically and directly measure the degree of standardization in business processes. Various application scenarios and future research areas are pointed out.06 - PräsentationPublikation Sentiment analysis for a swiss gig platform company(2019) Pustulka, Elzbieta; Hanne, ThomasWe work with a Swiss Gig Platform Company to identify innovative solutions which could strengthen its position as a market leader in Switzerland and Europe. The company mediates between employers and employees in short term work contracts via a platform system. We first looked at the business processes and saw that some process parts were not being controlled by the company, which is now being remedied. Second, we analyzed the job reviews which the employers and employees write, and implemented a prototype which can detect negative statements automatically, even if the review is positive overall. We worked with a dataset of 963 job reviews from employers and employees, in German, French and English. The reviews have a star rating (1 to 4 stars), with some discrepancies between the star rating and the text. We scored the reviews manually as negative or other, as negative reviews are important for business improvement. An exploratory discussion on the impact of the Internet of Things on purchasing and supply management(2018) Henke, Michael; Legenvre, Hervé; Ruile, HerbertIndustry 4.0 and the Internet of Things (IoT) are transforming industry architectures, traditional business models and processes. This calls for significant adaptations of the Purchasing and Supply Management Function (PSM). The present article aims at timulating debates between practitioners and academic on this evolution. It first describes the context by exploring why and how the IoT changes industry architecture and favour some specific governance mechanisms. From this, building on three separate research investigations involving practitioners we explore a scenario where PSM is taking a more strategic role while being more digitized. This scenario aims to describe how PSM would evolve in this context and how PSM can manage this transformation.
