Vielmehr muss sich das gesamte Schweizer Bildungssystem den neuen Aufgaben stellen, sonst droht der Wirtschaftsstandort Schweiz der Entwicklung hinterherzuhinken.04A - Beitrag SammelbandPublikation AI meets Business Rules and Business Process Management(2008) Hinkelmann, Knut; Wache, HolgerBusiness rules and business process management are growing research and application areas for semantic technologies. While both areas make use of model driven knowledge representations?often in conjunction with application-oriented modeling tools?the potential of knowledge representations with precise semantics has only recently been recognized.Generally, the areas of ?business rules,? ?semantic technologies,? and ?business process management? are addressed by different communities at present. Standards are promoted by different organizations like W3C, OMG, and WfMC. Current research and practice, however, begins to identify and explore the benefits for combining methodologies from these different areas.Business rules, for example, strive to meet the increasing requirements of transparency and compliance, making sure that all stakeholders comply with all rules and regulations at any place and any time. Defining a commonly agreed vocabulary is a prerequisite for rule definitions.04B - Beitrag KonferenzschriftPublikation Business and IT alignment: the IT-Socket(Springer, 2009) Woitsch, Robert; Karagiannis, Dimitris; Plexousakis, Dimitris; Hinkelmann, Knut01A - Beitrag in wissenschaftlicher ZeitschriftPublikation ICT and Innovation in Small Companies(2007) Schubert, Petra; Fisher, Julie; Leimstoll, UweThe small business sector is very important to most economies generating significant wealth and employment. It has generally been accepted that small business owners are less likely to embrace innovation and less likely to have a well-defined business strategy. Yet for companies to grow and continue to be successful innovation is critical. Given the importance of this sector there is a need for governments and policy makers to understand innovation in small business particularly in terms of ICT implementation and use in order to formulate appropriate programs and policies. There have been few studies reported in the literature however, that have looked at innovation in the small business sector. This study investigated small Swiss businesses with 10 to 49 employees. A survey of 389 small businesses found that most see themselves as innovative and most use IT to support innovation.04B - Beitrag KonferenzschriftPublikation The Importance of ICT: An Empirical Study in Swiss SMEs(2006) Schubert, Petra; Leimstoll, UweThe following paper presents results from a longitudinal study about the importance and use of information and communication technology in Swiss small and medium-sized companies. In an empirical survey, 989 questionnaires were collected and analysed (return rate 17 %). The results were weighted according to company size and industry sector and are thus representative for Switzerland. The findings show that Swiss SMEs ? in their self assessment ? manage to gain (competitive) advantages from the deployment of information and communication technology. ICT is universally used (even) in (small and medium-sized) companies. There is a high degree of inter-organisational ICT use. ICT know-how and awareness are strongly rooted in management. The general conclusion is that IT matters for Swiss SMEs.04B - Beitrag KonferenzschriftPublikation Context-Aware, Proactive Delivery of Task-Specific Knowledge: The KnowMore Project(Springer, 2000) Abecker, Andreas; Bernardi, Ansgar; Hinkelmann, Knut; Kühn, Otto; Sintek, Michael01A - Beitrag in wissenschaftlicher ZeitschriftPublikation Dramatically different price developments for mobile services in India and Switzerland and their underlying drivers(2005) Bürkler, ErichPurpose - By comparing prices for mobile services in India and Switzerland, this article aims to highlight marginal differences in regulations ? besides other significant factors ? which can result in totally different price developments.Design/methodology/approach ? A holistic approach is used to explain the various drivers behind price developments. Besides costs (including licence fees), customer behaviours (summarized in demand elasticity), competitive behaviour (explained by the applied marketing mix) and termination fees (either as a price stabilizer ? if not freezer ? or as a relatively marginal cost component) represent the relevant drivers.Findings ? The comparative study underlines the crucial role termination costs play in dynamic mobile markets ? besides the usually stressed general cost levels and numbers of competitors.01A - Beitrag in wissenschaftlicher ZeitschriftPublikation What is Organizational Knowledge Maturing and how can it be assessed?(2009) Riss, Uwe; Witschel, Hans Friedrich; Brun, Roman; Thönssen, BarbaraWe introduce the concept of organizational knowledge maturing based on the idea of developing knowledge assets. We explain the dimensions that have to beconsidered and introduce the Knowledge Maturing Dimension Framework to measure the maturity level. Finally we describe service classes as the building blocks of afuture organizational learning and maturing environment (OLME).04B - Beitrag KonferenzschriftPublikation Support Knowledge Intensive Work with Semantic Technologies(2009) Brun, Roman; Martin, AndreasThis paper introduces an approach to support knowledge intensive work with semantic technologies by semantically enriching processes and then applying reasoning techniques on them. Further, the proposed use cases show the abilities of semantically enriched processes. Finally the paper introduces a possible architecture of a system which facilitates the knowledge intensive work with semantic technologies.processes and finally the paper introduces a possible architecture of a system which supports the knowledge intensive work with semantic technologies.04B - Beitrag Konferenzschrift
